Pre-IB
9th Grade Entrance Criteria

I. Requirements:
· Sarasota County residency required
· Completion of all appropriate
application forms-
Pre-IB Student Information Page
Parent Information Page
Honor Code (signed by student and parent)
Three Teacher Recommendations (8th grade core
subject teachers)
· Final Grades
of A or B for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies in 7th Grade and
first
semester of 8th Grade
II. Recommended:
· Stanine 8 or
higher (Total Reading & Total Math) on Grade 7 National Achievement
Test
(or comparable standardized test). (All candidates
must submit Standardized Test
scores.)
III. Favorable Consideration:
· Completion of Algebra I in 8th Grade
with a Grade of A or B. (Students must receive a
Final Grade of 85% to receive high school credit.)
· Completion
of Level One of a Foreign Language is not mandatory, but is looked upon
favorably. (Students may choose any of the three IB
Foreign Languages upon
acceptance.)
IV. Additional Criteria:
· Students may
be required to take Entrance Examinations for various subject areas or
produce other admissions documentation.
An Admissions Committee made up of Pre-IB and IB staff will review
admissions application when file is deemed complete.

Yearly, a limited number of transfer students are accepted at the 10th
grade level.

· Successful completion of Algebra I
(minimum)
· Successful completion of Level 1 or
above of a foreign language
· Final Grades
of A or B for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies in 8th Grade and

semester of 9th Grade

· Successful completion of 2 years of
Foreign Language study
· Successful completion of 1 year of a
lab science (minimum)
· Successful
completion of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 (minimum)
II. Recommended:
· Stanine 8 or
higher (Total Reading & Total Math) on Grade 10 National Achievement
Test
(or comparable standardized test). (All candidates
must submit Standardized Test
scores.)

· Completion of geometry or trigonometry
in addition to Algebra 1 and Algebra 2
· The Admissions Committee will strongly
